I’m not sure I could rise to the challenge but given I’ve just bought my fifth copy of Agharta and now looking for an original Japanese pressing of it maybe that’s the answer. There’s a mix of that album which is a holy grail for Miles electric heads if we could ever settle on what it actually is
I know you love him madly so let’s journey far in to yesternow and help me decide which ten releases - live, studio and archive - should be included in @mojomagazine.bsky.social’s
How To Buy Electric (era) Miles (Davis).
Best comments, as ever, will be included in the mag.

I don’t live in the US but as an outsider it appears the Democratic Party is useless. I do live in the UK and I feel the same way about the Labour Party

So many great choices already here but as Hymns to the Silence feels underrepresented I’ll give it a vote if only for Take Me Back where Van’s sense of yearning speaks to the common search for the unachievable utopia of the past.
Into the mystic with a sense of wonder, my next @mojomagazine.bsky.social How To Buy will be Van Morrison! Ten albums chosen by you! Best reasons for inclusion get mentioned in the mag. Astral Weeks, Common One, Hymns To The Silence, Veedon Fleece. Hit me with your choices and your reasons!

Have to confess to being surprisingly moved by this one. Just towards the end some specificity in its storytelling revealed to me it was a true story - very glad to have seen it

Now this is how to write a memoir. Can’t imagine how (or why) it’s been staged but this is the real deal

The original soundtrack was supposed to be provided by Radiohead who in the end couldn’t deliver in time. Some of the loops they created for the film ended up on The King of Limbs
One of the best and most counterintuitive needle drops in cinema is having La Mer, Julio Iglesias’ cover of Beyond The Sea, kick in at the end of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Just melancholy perfection. youtu.be/o_s2r1vUzAc?...

Roberta Flack was one of the 20th century's greatest artists. So much more than the songs that crossed over and became universal, though those songs alone earned her immortality. RIP to a woman who changed the sonic landscape. Here is my long essay on her genius www.npr.org/2020/02/10/8...
Remembering Roberta Flack: The Virtuoso
Roberta Flack is only solo artist to win two consecutive Record of the Year Grammys and she helped usher in an enduring style of R&B. Could she be pop music's most under-appreciated influence?
