But most EU schoolchildren are taught English, which has massively improved that cohesion. Why is a language that is effectively a hobby going to be more beneficial than that? English has become that defacto common language, right or wrong, so teaching anything else would actually not benefit.

In my last few years working in UK HE, I chose to leave the union because I really didn't agree with the call for strikes on a pay deal. It was a tough call having been in it for over 20 years.

Or is he just keeping his powder dry? If I was planning something that I know would be jumped on by pretty much the entire UK press and weaponised against me, I'd make damn sure I had all my ducks lined up ready. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but he's not stupid

Asked my Danish wife to guess this figure, and she came up with £13m as her outrageous suggestion. She then looked up the cost of the Danish kings coronation earlier this year... 1.4m kroner, or £200000 approx. Unreal!

Yes that money was taxed. He won't pay the tax when he dies, his heirs will, and they haven't paid tax on that income like everyone has to.
