✅ A very social democrat.
Great session out in Woolston this morning. Over 2000 leaflets delivered talking about the great work Labour is doing in Southampton - £20m funding for Weston, renters rights, action on cost of living, protections for leaseholders.

Desperately sad to hear about Diane Keaton's death. Her role as Louise Bryant in Reds is one of my favourite performances of all time, from one of my favourite movies of all time.

Not much more I can say, apart from home sad I am.

Glorious day yesterday out and about. Talking to residents in Harefield and delivering the Spring 25 Edition of Itchen Connects, followed by a street stall in the afternoon campaigning for a banking hub to be brought to Bitterne precinct.

Good to be out in Golden Grove with local councillors delivering our latest edition of Itchen Connects and taking to residents about local issues. Do get in touch with your Itchen Labour Team if you have anything you want to raise.

Yesterday, Darren held his first community coffee morning, focused on anti-social behaviour in the Polygon. Residents were open in their frustrations, but fair and constructive. Thanks to @christielambert.bsky.social, Polygon ward cllrs, local police team and Society of St James for your leadership.

Good session in Woolston talking to residents. In particular, a formerly Tory voting veteran mentioned how much he appreciated Keir Starmer’s leadership on Ukraine.

Good to be out in the Bitterne at the weekend. Lots of issues raised on speeding, parking and enforcement. Unfortunately with three invisible Tory councillors, these issues get ignored. Good to see our Labour MP taking action instead.

Back out on the doors for 2025 with the MP, local councillors and the local team. Helpful conversations about planning issues. We’re out and about every week talking to residents about the issues that matter to them.

A great team out and about!

For me, this was the most important graphic in the October Budget papers. It’s really clear this was a progressive, centre-left, social democratic budget.

We have to stop this zero-sum “the budget did nothing for me personally” view. We will all benefit from shorter NHS waits, better schools etc.
