Even earlier; Border Patrol and whatever the forerunner of ICE was (can’t remember) already had brownshirt like powers granted to them. A friend wrote about this back in the mid 90s.

💩 in Latin?

My sister had a similar experience at Kindergarten, but with a different spicy song in Spanish. Gloria Trevi’s “A La Madre”. The whole song is word play with “madre” meaning mother or nun but also used for cursing. My sister was going to a nun run school. You can guess how that went through!

Surprisingly enough, they still offer that service! I think it’s an online thing instead of the good old booklet thing, but they do offer it!

The Golden Child was good, but also weird. It’s a serious movie and a comedy at the same time? Only watched it once as a kid; I did get to watch some parts years later but didn’t quite get it.

It’s an issue with Latin American Catholics as well. There’s this “black Pope means the end of times are near” prophecy that’s believed in across the region.

The rightwingers here in Mexico were pretty much cheering at the news of Pope Francis’ death. Catholics here come in two flavors: those that aren’t really following stuff, and hardliners. All the clergy are of the hardliner types.

Well, it is the first quarter. Probably going to get more disapproval for the second one.
