Finally got around to voting for The Game Awards. Had to give Dispatch a nod. Otherwise Clair Obscur is largely sweeping up here.

My top 25 games of all time (at this exact moment).

No particular order. No real surprises here I'm sure but I do love some variety. Games like Forza Horizon 5, Mario Galaxy, Resi 7, Assassin's Creed Origins, It Takes Two and Astro Bot could all easily be on this list.

Took a day away from rebuilding Australia to return to this absolute gem and take on the new DLC levels. Tough but rewarding end(?) to a masterpiece of a game. Astro Bot, it's been fun. See you in the sequel.

Going to buy Lies of P and platinum it on the easiest difficulty purely because it hurts the feelings of people like this.

Got to agree with you on both of these, and I will add:

Third place in the first (I assume) daily challenge, Inception? Nailed it. I'll take that and the shiny "Best Quarter" achievement thank you very much.

I have a fairly substantial collection (I love to smell good) but these are my most common reaches

Game #10 of 2025: Onimusha Warlords (Playstation 2). One of those rare relics that lives up to the legend. Some mild irritations stemming from the standards of the time (who thought tank controls were a good idea?) but doesn't stop this being an amazing game 2 decades later.

Game #09 of 2025: Return of the Obra Dinn (Playstation 4). Brilliantly put together puzzle which just didn't do it for me. Clearly very good game, but it's not for me. Nethertheless...

Game #08 of 2025: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch). Stunningly well made but hard as nails 2D platformer. Some dodgy swimming controls lose it half a star but otherwise this is one of the best in the genre.

Happy weekend, Bluesky! Hope you all can unwind and enjoy, and to everyone here in the UK I hope everyone is safe after the storm. What's everyone doing?

I'll be playing Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Star Wars Outlaws, and Return of the Obra Dinn. Then tomorrow, off to see The Presence.

Game #07 of 2025: A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead (Playstation 5). A bad game that is at least trying to do something good. Some serious frustration and bad choices undermine some great ideas and level design. Worth a punt, and a developer to watch.
January 17, 2025 at 8:51 PM
Game #06 of 2025: Ten Bells (Playstation 5). The first horror game in a long time to to genuinely scare me. For the price, it'd be rude not to. Though it might spoil pubs for you forever.
January 15, 2025 at 10:20 PM
Game #05 of 2025: The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe (Playstation 5). More than just a lick of paint on an all time great, but a packaged in sequel that lives up to the highest of expectations.

Game #04 of 2025: Neva (Playstation 5). Beautiful art and music, let down by some wonky storytelling and tacked on combat. I loved Gris, I just liked Neva.
January 11, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Game #03 of 2025: Fort Solis (PC). At least it's over now. Dire. Gets half a point extra for voice acting. The other two are for it technically not being broken. That's about it.
