Orthopedic surgeon said it was a difficult surgery but it is healing. Got the staples out but still not allowed to put weight on it. Pain has lessened and I’m hanging in there.
X-ray shows my tibia with plate and screws on the left and an image of my tibia with a vertical fracture near the knee joint on the right.

Thank you to everyone who helped me on this journey. The surgery is complete, but with some complications. The doc says no cast, just a walker. The plate and pins hold it all together I guess. I’m in a lot of pain but hopefully it will ebb soon. Might be released in a few days. Gory pics follow.
nebulizer treatments for saliva aspiration during surgery. I think I’m okay. The sunglasses and hat are because I’m photosensitive and the hospital lights are harsh. A very long incision in the front of my calf with staples. lots of bruising and soft tissue damage.

Bersh kept calling me and every time I went outside I couldn’t find him. On the fifth call, I finally found him in a different spot than he usually lands. I gave him a strawberry and he held it carefully so he wouldn’t drop it. Check out the open claw. #LifeInAThaiForest

The best sourdough sandwich I've ever had! Pesto/chicken/cheese perfectly melted and the most perfect crispness of the grilled bread. Also: pineapple/ginger kombucha and fresh mulberry with soda. It’s a cool little place called Artisan Sourdough by Apple. #LifeInAThaiForest

I haven’t hugged my daughter in 13 years but she is finally coming to Thailand to visit me and she is going to stay for 3 months! I’m so happy. Her partner of 15 years is supportive of this trip and I’m grateful to him for helping her make this happen.
