This 2021 paper seems to solve the old mystery about the origins of basque culture using genome.
In common with Iberia: more Paleolithic ancestry and less mix with Yamnayas. Differentiation came from less mix romans&arabs, feeding back with language isolation

This salt in Bogotá, Colombia, formed in the Cretaceous at the rift between today’s Mexico and Colombia about 150 million years ago, and raised to 2500 m above sea level during the late Tertiary period, when the Andes were formed.

In just one week we have learnt that H.erectus made bone tools in Olduvai (Tanzania) at about the same time that H.aff.erectus in Atapuerca (Burgos, Spain), 1.1 to 1.5 My ago.
