I guess this will shift again when I can easily and quickly build tailored software tools with AI.
It feels like a better deal than paying for a product that can do a lot that I don't need, and where I, as the user, have to make my workflow, etc., fit the product instead of having a product tailored to my needs.

I totally hear you - I have also noticed that shift. The default basic Apple OS apps tend to do the job 80% of the time and are free.
