I'm sick of these season defining games😂

Thought this for a few games now and was evident last season too. The level of squad overall we need in the summer is frightening and if any of the big names rumoured leave too that adds to our woes. GK, RB, RCB,LB, 8,RW all needed even if we keep Tino,Tonali,Gordon, etc.

You are missing NUFC being taught a lesson in football. M2M across the pitch but they are just slicing through it like butter

Reckon we could go back in for him or has that ship sailed?

Surprised Botman hasn't came in. Expect more rotation against Bournemouth but thought he'd have a bit more change for this one too.

This is 100% my fear. Woltemade has to be able to consistently pin his defender and play into midfield runners but he can't right now and it leaves us exposed in transition. Idk how else we can make use of him but right now we have no central creativity

Agreed. Priority in summer if possible

Thoughts on Ramsdale? Has improved build up but I do think this leaky defence has a fair bit to do with him
December 20, 2025 at 4:23 PM
For me the lack of pressure on the ball in the back line just cedes too much control of the game. Do agree we seem to be unable to retain possession which doesn't help the cause but part of that is the 4-5-1 leaves us with no outlets and Woltemade's hold up play isn't good enough atm
December 14, 2025 at 4:21 PM
Is it just intensity though? Very few teams set up in a 4-5-1 yet we are stubborn with it. No ball pressure, little counterattacking threat and cedes territory. Desperate to see a 4-4-2 or just anything different
December 14, 2025 at 4:14 PM
To do this effectively we need:
a) get more technically secure players on (Burn, J7, Pope, Krafth) cannot all play. Need at least 2 of (Hall, Tino, Ramsdale, Ramsey)
b) more ball pressure OOP. I think it's time we move to a 4-4-2 press as Woltemade gives little frontline pressure.

Would love to know what the club think of the academy progress and if any of the young stars are ready to feature in 1st team games, even in cups etc. Guessing they'll use the Sela cup as a test run but Sanusi, Sahar, Hernes, Neave, Harrison, etc. Any news around the club on them next season?

Tbf Barnes has had a pretty good OOP game today. Agree though Gordon is more complete.

Is it sad that I am genuinely looking forward to @chrisdhwaugh.bsky.social breaking down that Dan Burn header?

I'm sweating
March 16, 2025 at 5:19 PM
What do I do now for 45 mins? Watch it on the toilet?
March 16, 2025 at 5:19 PM
Just wait until they get to "well actually, they weren't all that bad" or "the autobahn was great"
March 9, 2025 at 8:52 PM
Perhaps I'm being cheeky as this should be asked in a Q&A session but given this, and Tripps age, our FB options suddenly look like an issue come summer. I know RCB/RW/GK are all priorities this summer but how far down the list is RB/LB and how will the club manage this with 2 young talents?
March 5, 2025 at 3:22 PM
I hope you are right but I'm struggling to see where we recoup much value from our outgoings to finance the incomings. Longstaff is the only sellable asset that jumps out. With inflation of fees, Mitchell will have to get v creative to secure the level we need for them sort of prices IMO
March 3, 2025 at 4:56 PM
My biggest question that follows though is just how many £20-£40m signings can we make? We realistically need AT LEAST GK,RCB,RW,RB (4) signings this summer and potentially more. This seems impossible without a big outgoing. Is it time to cash in on a star to rebalance the whole squad?
March 3, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Looks somewhat between a 442 and 433 passive midblock. Assume it is to try and leave a spring board for counters
February 26, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Lewis Hall has been outstanding too
February 23, 2025 at 2:37 PM
Questions to who though? Players? Probably. Ownership? Definitely. Howe? Don't think so, depending on how we lose.
February 23, 2025 at 12:54 PM
I wonder if Howe prefers Dubs as a no.2. If Trafford does come in summer and assuming he becomes no.1 . Pope likely has higher resale value and Dubs profiles closer to other keepers regarding build up. Having pope as backup means that if he had to play, build up structures would have to change a lot
