It seems to me that there are only two options available to sane Americans: violence or secession (which may be the same thing).

Everyone pretending that this can be beat with non-violent protests and legal challenges are ignoring the fact that the fascists already dominate what's left of the […]

Reminder: a significant number of mainstream UK politicians think what's happening in America is a) good and b) should be done to British people.
Palantir is a cancer in the NHS. And now that Labour, Tories, and Reform all plan an ICE-like “national police force”, you can bet Palantir will already be pitching the parties’ advisors for that action.
Why Minneapolis? How are they choosing their targets?

404 Media also recently learned Palantir is working on a tool for ICE that populates a map with potential deportation targets based on addresses, and ICE is using it to find locations where lots of people it might detain could be based.

I'm only now catching up on @emilylowan's #fighttheoligarchs tour and it is *fantastic* to see the BC Greens running such an excellent media game with their clearly charismatic leader.

This was a rather good video essay on how #startrek will never be allowed to paint us a world without billionaires so long as billionaires are paying the writers.

The Guardian just posted their report of our recent discovery that there's asbestos in children's play sand at Hobbycraft:

The fawning over Mark Carney from the left is really weird. You know he's basically just taking off the mask and going full-on capitalist hellscape, right? You cannot reconcile "values" with "pragmatism" when the latter requires the destruction of the former.

He's just saying the quiet part out […]

DuckDuckGo is doing a poll: "Do you want AI?"

They had to know that this would be the outcome.

zstd is just devastatingly impressive. I just compressed a 30GB file down to 661MB in about 10 seconds. Bananas.

So despite massive coordinated opposition, ICE thugs are still kidnapping people from their homes.

Perhaps it's time to admit the failure of nonviolent resistance?

What's the best tactic when you find an awesome, small #foss project that you want to contribute to, but for which there's *a lot* that could be improved in terms of code quality? Do you just make minor PRs here and there and hope you manage to introduce things like tests and type hints a little […]

I don't have a news link for this because it's very new (we're ground zero) but I wanna get this out there as soon as I can.

Throw out any "play sand" you might have in your house right away. It might be contaminated with asbestos.

We recently threw a party […]

Have a look if you're so inclined:

I just finished "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". It consumed 93hours of my life if you can believe it and it was just... ok. Mass Effect it was not.

It's hard for me to put my finger on it, but Bioware seems to be sorely lacking whatever the magic they once had. I hope they get it back soon.
