Not unique - finance worker in London.
100% with you there. And also would mean moving the T20 back to a more sensible time of year and without the big pause before the finals

Just a terrible decision

Just terrible, has the vibe of an awful commissioned company song.

It also happens to be the manner in which the big four accountancy/professional firms are set up, so I'm sure they'll have lots of comments about the changes should it be proposed...

I have but one criticism of Gatwick, which is that whoever decided the monorail required a grating Easyjet advertisement should be shot.

It would mean that less is taken off them. I agree, the withdrawal is a bad policy. Combined with the cliff edge on other benefits you create a real incentive to not earn more. Had hoped Truss would fix that in her budget, rather than just a tax cut. (Weird to have hoped that Truss did something).

In isolation you'd be gifting a tax cut to the wealthiest, as they lose the personal allowance.

Which song do you like? I have one in mind that I think is a solid tune

The “I’ve sat the exam, but still think I should revise more” feeling

You wouldn't happen to have a recipe would you?

What was the alternative?

If you liked slay the spire would thoroughly recommend Balatro. Very addictive, and try not to be put off if you don’t normally like poker, it’s so much more.

Is London Bridge a hipster grotspot?

What's that? Someone is interested in purchasing us? Might want to increase our cashflow forecasts to up the purchase price.

And as an aside, Mauritius is (or at least was) the responsibly run competitive tax haven! We're literally giving it to one!

I sometimes get the impression that people comment solely based on the headline. But surely not...

“Looking shaky, Keir” I say, as I look at the 404 Labour MPs opposite me.

Beyond frustrating to arrive on my bike to find the bike spots swamped with a sea of them. Usually not even upright.

Oh I’m very appreciative of that fact. But it feels like one that will not last to our retirement. The optics of cutting relief for saving for your retirement just strikes as poor. A hope (and a vain one) would be they at least fix the personal allowance mess as a trade off.
August 15, 2024 at 4:11 PM
The fact that Labour committed to the triple lock and then also wants to limit relief on pensions for current workers is, for my peer group at least, outrageous.

Which game are you playing at the moment?
