Spotted in Ballymun. Am very tempted to claim one of these and take it home while they're still dotted over Dublin #aras25

Really enjoyed speaking at the Taste of @dublincityuni.bsky.social event about my @researchireland.ie -funded study of the Catholic Standard newspaper, looking at the 'social evil' of dance halls. Great Q&A session with a super audience which included people who met their partner at a dance hall!

Top quality subtitles on RTE for the reaction to Sylvester Stallone's penalty save on Escape To Victory

The phrase "growing packs of sex wolves" appears in a 1964 letter to the Catholic Standard about "the vicious white-slave traffic" in Dublin after dark.

Google's AI overview informed me: 'The phrase "growing packs of sex wolves" is a sensationalized and inaccurate way to describe wolf behaviour'

Spotted abandoned in Glasnevin, County Dublin. Surely there's a six-word short story waiting to be written about this

Holy Father's Health: Reports "Completely False"

Headline from the Irish Catholic newspaper The Standard, 5 September, 1941

Before the talk about #tariffs on the penguins of Heard and McDonald islands, the Irish newspaper The #Standard (2 June 1928) had a story about an 'Isle of Dogs' west of Madagascar

'Stop the drift towards economic chaos - Situation must be reviewed – Tariff war being waged in most unlucky time for all parties involved in it'.
The #Irish Catholic newspaper The Standard may have been right when they addressed #tariffs in November 1932.

Spring 🌼 has (kinda) sprung in Albert College Park, #Dublin next door to #DCU - possibly in honour of the birthday of Dead Calm and Titanic actor Billy Zane, or maybe because it's, you know, late February #photography #daffodils

Ah, the glory of algorithms! Ryanair are suggesting I buy a card for my non-existent wife to 'save Valentine's Day', while LinkedIn are hinting I should learn Turkish on the four days I'm not working as a hair stylist

It looks like Dublin 11 has seceded while I was at dinner in Finglas. Huge if true. Hoping I'll have left the Irish Confederacy by the time I'm back in Glasnevin. No border checks yet that I can see

Today marked my final day at Dublin City University, where I completed my PhD, got my first experience of lecturing, and made friends from a wide variety of backgrounds. Thanks to everyone at the DCU School of Communications and beyond who contributed to making it a memorable, special experience
