I find the winters in the UK grim but late Feb starts to feel like springs not far away. I'm reading Nature's Calendar - The British Year in 72 Seasons. Inspired by a traditional Japanese calendar which divides the year into segments of four to five days it recognises the micro changes in the land.

STD (tel) codes were introduced in 1958. A geographical area or city was allocated an STD code. This was an important way of defining a locality and identity. With the changes in telephony, this mapping is likely to disappear in the future, and with it a way of drawing geographical boundaries.
