my ONLY note on the way today played out is that it would have been neat for Cheney to drop dead during the part of this speech where he talks about eradicating Islamophobia from the halls of power both within and outside of New York, just to REALLY drive the theme home, but that's a minor quibble

In the Teen Vogue (RIP) profile that came out last week, they mentioned how Mamdani got people to enjoy the city and meet each other, so that young people who have no safe third spaces found ways to connect IRL, and that's both life changing and replicable, no matter where in the country.

If there is a single person through whom all political power flows and who is the sole decision maker in a polity, then that person is a dictator. It does not matter if that person seized power violently or is ceded extra judicial powers by coconspirators already in government.

Thank you for doing this Rep Bonamici. This is exactly my fear: that Mexican friends and family members here in the US legally will get picked up anyway just because they have a name that's not 100% unique.
