I can rustle up a graph from Google books - it doesn’t obviously cover newspapers etc but perhaps hints at the word reaching outside Goddard’s work

#findsfriday offering: a dinky 1600-1640 clay tobacco pipe with milling around the rim, and a flat foot

Just started #16sunsets and it’s gripped me, displacing all other podcasts! Bravo @drkevinfong.bsky.social and team. Might be a bit technical for the space-shuttle-loving 5 year old but I’ll give him my abridged version. I’ve been inspired to do a couple of Lino-printed shuttle tees too

A fairly mundane #findsfriday but I love a finger mark: daub of Early Iron Age date. The action of someone pressing the clay onto a a framework of wattles is preserved for over 2500 years.

Ridiculously good @hamishhawk.bsky.social show at Koko last night, loud and in their element, giving the tunes and incredible lyrics the intensity they deserve. Immense fun!

What’s your sign?

Unglamorous but I’m always drawn to the characteristics (in this case knife marks) that show the process, and the human touch: the trimmed edge of a Roman tegula (roof tile) 2nd c #tilesontuesday

Quote with a photo of you from the 80’s (if you were alive then)

So disturbing

Reading this on a phone, and reminded of the striking similarity of size of object and text

Saw this the other day, it’s quite shouty and pleased with itself. If your shower gel doesn’t contain 100mg TAURINE you’re a LOSER. It’s actually got Hydra Power which is proven by science to be MORE sciencey than other gels.

I quickly looked it up on Amazon (I don’t buy from them) to read a summary, hoping it’s suitable for my 13 year old. The book comes with specific safety advice:

Today I said goodbye to a fossil that’s been on my shelf for a few years. It appears to be two odd footprints, each 50mm long or so. It’s been given the species and genus Pseudopteraichnus Whitbyensis and from the name, you can guess where it’s going to end up #ichnology #palaeontology #jurassic

Not a rare or spectacular #findsfriday - but the colour of the iridescent decay on this early 18th century bottle glass is just beautiful

A strangely beautiful #findsfriday - glossy, vitrified kiln lining

A bit of a late #findsfriday, but here’s a chunk of early postmed roof tile with the impression of textile in the surface - the edge is reminiscent of a sleeve but I’m not 100% convinced

Just a pic of some jarring polystyrene tiles next to 18th century timbers to introduce myself. Old tiles, old bricks, and poking around weird old places that smell funny is my bag #archaeology
