One of the best parts of living in LIC is the NYC marathon on my street🏃‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🌐🗽

I hope the reported 165,000 marchers in NYC today engage in knocking doors for dems challenging in tough districts and civic life in their community. 4*

I marched today because my patriotism, optimism, and love is stronger than my frustration and fear.

I realize today was more of a declaration of independence, a performative act (I did get great pictures) and not about holding our president, who thinks any publicity is good publicity, to account. 3
October 19, 2025 at 1:01 AM
I marched today because I choose to do the work for a more perfect union and to uplift our democracy, standup to hate, dictatorship, authoritarianism, extremism, and fascism.

I did not march today to build an ideological movement or for a burn-it-all-down revolution. 2

I marched today because I am a patriot, I love our country, I believe in our country’s constitution and promise despite this president and our imperfect history. 1

The NY State Legislature must go back into session NOW to get this done AND enact legislation to protect are immigrant neighbors.

Here’s the bill⏩️ www.nysenate.gov/legislation/...

This was the perfect rally today…short, (not so) sweet, solidarity with Texas dems, and a clear statement that New Yorkers want to fight back and if that means redrawing the maps, we will redraw the maps. The figurative fancy gloves are off and the figurative boxing gloves are on🥊LETS GO!
August 16, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Yes, I will go to Bay Ridge after work in a storm to stand with constituents of Rep Nicole Malliotakis as they hold her to account to vote no on the budget bill. Just like I will go to Bay Ridge to knock doors for her democratic challenger when the time comes.

And most importantly it is our right to peacefully protest—we should use it or we could lose it. Peaceful (and wet) it was.

Now everyone who marched everywhere today needs to come together and do the work to win elections.

I was trepidatious marching today because of safety concerns and I am not sure it’s the most effective tactic. But nonetheless it is a good tactic to counter the birthday/military/silly parade that the narcissistic, unserious, felon, wannabe king threw for himself—very “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.

I support Zellnor Myrie because of his work to expand + protect our democracy AND because of all the other legislations he has sponsored, cosponsored, and helped get passed—the list is long! AND because of the bold policy platform he has put forward as a candidate for NYC Mayor.
June 14, 2025 at 4:14 PM
Senator Myrie also sponsored and worked tirelessly to get NY State’s John Lewis Voting Rights Act passed.I was privileged to be among the advocates to attend the signing of this bill into law. We couldn’t get this done at the federal level but we got it done in NY State!
June 14, 2025 at 4:14 PM
This morning, on the first day of early voting, I ranked Zellnor Myrie first for Mayor of NYC. Not lost on me that we can early vote because early voting was one of many voting access bills that Senator Myrie sponsored and got passed in his first month as a NY State Senator.

At a time of disunity, extremism, fascism, and overwelming feelings of powerlessness, being community and doing what we do in community, like marching in Queens Pride feels like a way stand up and fight back — in defiant joy, the theme this year. Happy Pride!

For me it’s about engaging with my neighbors, engaging in community. We don’t have to agree on every thing (that’s actually kind of creepy + cultish) but more often than not we do agree on the big things. We will never know, never gain understanding, never progress if we don’t talk with each other.
April 19, 2025 at 8:58 PM
I marched with @esindivisible.bsky.social of course but I was with so many of my neighbors from the LIC Coalition and the rest of Queens + Vote Blue NYC 💙💙💙💙 saying hands off! And I have no doubt we will keep saying it. “Who’s street? Our streets! Whose country? Our country!”
April 5, 2025 at 11:35 PM
Today’s march reinforced my belief that New Yorkers will stand up for each other and our democracy. Stand up to tyrants, dictators, kings, and robber barons. The die-in + resurrection was emotional—beautiful to watch people join in unplanned. A good day for the good fight ahead.
March 16, 2025 at 12:11 AM
NY #Light4Democracy event was reflective, inspiring, motivating & provided tangible actions to care for our democracy, our neighbors, ourselves. I won’t watch the speech tonight, instead I’ll work on posts for @esindivisible.bsky.social about how people can hold their elected leaders to account. 🕯️

Today at noon I attended a public meeting with over 100 of my neighbors to discuss public land and the LIC rezoning. I believe public land should remain public and be dedicated to community use. 1/

2015 Glamour Women of the Year honored Cecile Richards. She had just been grilled by Republicans in Congress for hours. I felt honored to be in her presence. We had no clue what was to come. May Cecile Richards rest in peace and may we keep fighting, inspired by her strength and power.

Seeing the beautiful production of “Our Town” at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre was a good way to start 2025.
January 2, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Today I saw “The Substance” — bloody + gory which isn’t my thing, needlessly long, a bit muddled in message, but still profoundly sad. All I can think is that if so many of us hate ourselves so much and don’t strive for true substance in our lives how can we ever understand and love each other.
