A few days off to escape the news

That’s it. I have sent my submission to the 2025 Discoveries competition for my first novel. Time to take the plunge. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻#writing

Sending my first book of the year, always satisfying. However for many people there wasn’t much cheer during the festivities. The end of a marriage is sad, whatever the reasons.

Reworking my first 10,000 words. Really enjoyable to see how the story and the characters surprise me.

Ridiculously pleased with my attempt at Nigella’s chocolate fruit cake. Perfect way to unwind after a demanding week.

I have to write a synopsis for my debut novel. What needs to be in it? Any advice please?

Beautiful sunrise this morning

My 89 year old friend found a ginkgo tree leaf in the park, wrote a haiku, drew the leaf, framed it and gifted it to me this morning. Am very touched. It also reminds me that writing #haikus is an excellent exercise for writers.

An exhilarating (albeit bitterly cold) walk in the Botanical Gardens this morning. I saw no one else.
