Yesterday was a big day! Thank you to everyone who supported me in making it happen!
Please congratulate Dr. Danielle Lariviere on passing her dissertation! Dr. Lariviere conducted a randomized-controlled trial in which she developed a math vocabulary component to use within word-problem tutoring. She has an incredibly bright future ahead of her!

Love being part of the PRIME team so much!
First up in the PRIME Team spotlight is Danielle. She's a 4th year student who is finishing her dissertation. In fact, she defends TODAY! She designed a math vocabulary component to word-problem intervention! Danielle loves middle school math, and she's a role model for others.

In this paper, we reviewed studies that focused on teaching pre-algebraic reasoning to students who experience difficulty with mathematics. What was used most often within the instruction? Use of representations and use of explicit instruction. Check it out!

Do you want your students to engage in math writing? Check out this paper in which we reviewed math-writing studies. TLDR? Math writing instruction is important, and it needs to focus on both math and writing.
