Just released a five minute existential thriller film yesterday! I have to say, it feels good this is finally in the world. #thriller #shortfilm
Here is a side by side comparison between the pre-viz and the final film. With so many visual effects in this five minute short, is was so important to be able to communicate effectively what would be happening. #bts #filmmaking

I heard this quote from Ghandi and it has been rolling a lot through my mind lately.

“Speak only if it improves upon the silence.”

Life, especially on the internet, is noisy enough. Let’s speak to improve. What a lovely challenge.

Stop looking at art as a lecture and see it as an invitation to conversation.

With companies focused so heavily on artificial intelligence, why does it seem there is no effort in developing powerful artificial wisdom?

Anyone who has played DND knows why the distinction matters.

People grind and hustle just so they can say “I’m winning.”

I wonder if we would find more meaning when we align our passions as a means to helping others so our goal becomes “we’re winning.”

People think evil characters are “interesting” but I find characters who are “good” tend to be very complex, especially when as they are trying to navigate a world with no clear cut easy answers.

Shout out to @brennanleemulligan.bsky.social for the observation.

Conflict is story! It can’t exist without it.

Life is conflict. It can’t exist without it.

The beauty I find is in the how characters face it. Good or bad. That’s the humanity.

It’s okay to put your head down and get your project done. Social media will be there when you return. :)

Go your pace.

You might be tempted to do more or less.

But trust me, your pace is the short cut.

Mental Health is writing.
Social Health is writing
Living life is writing.

It will only help you be a better writer.

I’ve noticed three levels of dialogue.

Level 1: Exposition - what they say is what they mean.
Level 2: Subtext - words used to get what a character wants. The agenda underneath the the words.
Level 3: Insightful - Revealing deeper truths that character is probably unaware they even expressed.

My per day “at least” checklist:

- 1) write at least 1 letter in a screenplay
- 2) save at least $1 dollar
- 3) edit at least 1 cut on the documentary
- 4) read at least 1 sentence

Results for 1 Month:
- Finished a rough draft screenplay
- saved $1000
- cracked the code on the doc
- read 5 books

I had a client reach out 11 years after the project to just thank me again after they rewatched the video. If you ever wonder if you should say a compliment, just do it, especially if you genuinely mean it. You will make someone’s week by doing so!

I love dark thriller or horror stories because they are an entertaining roller coasters exploring what it means to face the darkness. You can only see the brightest stars in the darkest nights.

Discipline is less about willpower but more about the building of healthy habits.

Focus on one small change at a time. Once it’s established, the add another small change.

Keep doing that and you are set.

I get that your suppose to post something hateful to get attention on these platforms but if you feel the need to resort to that, maybe ask yourself if lowering your moral virtue and integrity is worth someone smashing that like button.

Finished The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. Wow. Flawed. Genius. Tons of great live advice that absolutely applies today and one can’t help but apply self examination. He accomplished a lot and most of the things written in it were BEFORE the revolutionary war which isn’t mention in the book.

Momentum is built in the small victories. Even the smallest of victories lays the bricks for a grand structure. Better yourself, little by little. A razor edge win, is still a win!

You know what got me to finish a rough draft for a script I’m developing in less than two weeks?

☑️ Write a minimum of one letter a day.

That sounds insane. But I know my challenge is almost always starting and I’ve learned the key to getting things done is showing up consistently.
