The 9th strange stone I found.
this one's preeetty strange..
printmaking experiment. photographic decalcomania. A photograph crushed in a printing press. The result is a very weird stone-like apparition, quite craggy and rocky on top, but textured with impossible black rivulets and wrinkles.

the 74th strange stone, that I found in that place
printmaking experiment. decalcomania. a photograph printed on the wrong material, on plastic, then forced through a printing press. The result is an explosion of patterns and colours. It's part of my collection of stone-looking things, though this one is very far gone. very deteriorated.

This one's different again. A white and brown stone-shaped thing, riddled with strange dark tributaries, lies in a muddy brown and blue field. The whole gravity and physics of the scene is questionable: Unreal. Experimental printmaking. Photographic decalcomania. 🪨

The 6th and 7th strange rocks I found in that place
colourful, very texturally detailed artwork which almost depicts a scene of two white rocks in a brown-geeen soup of slime. The secret truth is, this image was generated by crushing a photograph in a printing press. it's weird printmaking

The 22nd stone.
#printmaking experiment. It looks like an egg-shaped white stone in the dirty mossy ground. The moss and dirt, as always, is strange looking. It teams with coral-like nodules and growths. A similar technique was used by surrealist painter max ernst to generate odd environments, except I use an improperly printed photograph and an Albion printing press where he used oil paint and a sheet of glass.

An anomaly for this early on in the "strange stones" series. A very weird and unreal image. What might have been a smooth white stone is being dissolved and invaded by wet rainbow growths. This was an image generated physically by an experimental photographic printmaking process, akin to decalcomania. shout-out Jungkook.

Large, white, irregular stone, weirdly smooth, lying in a wet and spongy bed of moss or algae, or something green and slimy and growing. Unreal. Experimental photographic printmaking. Figurative decalcomania.

the 32nd strange stone I found there.
This one's particularly weird. An unreal stone-like entity exists in an earthy field of mud-like and moss-like stuff. That's as certain as things get around here. Unlike the other stones so far in this series, this one's surface is not smooth and white, but instead is a twisted, fractal, green root-like texture. It all started as #photography, but then I did some #printmaking to it. Or, at least, I used a printing press to explode the original photo anyway.

a white, shield-shaped stone lies in a field of green and orange growths. it's surrounded by other stoney anomalies. it's all very odd looking. The result of experimental photographic printmaking, in which a landscape photo is printed on plastic and obliterated in an Albion press.

The 18th strange rock I found.
A large, wide, lumpy stone sits lodged in a shallow bed of unusually dark green moss-like goop. This composition was generated semi-randomly in a printmaking experiment in which a liquidated photograph was compressed in a printing press, obliterating the original image.

One of my series of strange stones. this one's almost egg-shaped, and lying in a particularly sloppy bed of abstract green gloop. Decalcomania; Epson printer ink compressed onto yupo paper.

This is the 14th strange stone I found in that place.
An unusual image. New-printmaking. Inkjet transfer. In the image, green, algae-like forms surround a smooth white "stone" with a notch in the top end, almost like a natural hand-hold. Technically the image is photographic, like a polaroid emulsion transfer, but the original photo (the tuffty weeds I posted earlier) was crushed in an Albion moveable type printing press against a sheet of Yupo paper to "generate" this new composition. Don't tell anyone though, I'm pretending they're stones I found.

There, specifically amongst these tufty weeds, I began to uncover the first of my interesting stones.

This photography dump has all just been context for the collection of interesting "stones" I am about to start posting.
Get ready for this account to become all about weird stones for a while.

But back in April of that year, when I drove out to see it, Illuma was still kept seporate from Reid Highway by a weird dead-zone: A rocky, grassy, weed-filled void, dry and parched at one end, but hydrated by a lively drain closer to the homes.
Here are some photos I took there.

Towards the end of 2023 it unexpected inflated, growing dozens of new homes and coming to rest almost against the edge of the highway like it was resting by a river.
