By odd coincidence I happened to be editing photos of our visit to the Louvre when I caught wind of today's events.

Scooter ridding thieves walking into the #Louvre with a construction ladder and robbing the French crown jewels by chainsaw sounds straight out of #Lupin S4.

The crown jewels of France in their glass security case in the middle of the Apollo Gallery in the Louvre. The crown of Louis XV takes centre frame, it's ornate gold work and precious gemstones in sharp focus under precision spotlights. Through the glass we see tourists admiring the pieces and taking photos on their mobile phones.

Delighted to hear that one of my BTS stills from “In the Opinion of the Censor” has been chosen as a Finalist for Best Cinematic Image at Waterford International Film Festival.

John Kelleher's “In the Opinion of the Censor” is a fascinating documentary on the history of film censorship in Ireland.
In the photo John Kelleher, Ireland's last ever Film Censor and first ever Director of Film Classification takes center frame in the historic Stella Cinema in Rathmines, surrounded by members of his crew left-to-right; AC Donnagh Fitzpatrick, Co-Producer David Power, Co-Writer and Director Andrew Gallimore, and DoP Kevin Minogue. Laurels for Finalist in the Best Cinematic Image category of the 19th edition of Waterford International Film Festival. WIFF 2025 will have live events on the 15th and 16th of November and online events continuing until the 22nd. The overall winners will be announced on the 16th.

A colourful, bright, and cheerful photo that exudes summer and childhood whimsy. We see parts of three people, but no faces; instead the focus is on a hand dipping a paintbrush into a vibrant palette of face paint. The arm, adorned with a cute rat tattoo, stretches into the frame from the top left, creating a strong diagonal that draws attention to the paintbrush. On the left side of the frame we see just a hint of the artists wardrobe as a toutou spills into frame. Two figures, blurry in the background with their faces out of frame are clearly excited children waiting for their turn under the artist's brush. It's been a minute, Bluesky! I noticed the theme for today's #BlueSkyArtShow is #Shiny and had a peak through my recent delivery of hundreds of photos I delivered to the amazing organisers of #FéileVegan - Ireland's first every fully vegan festival! - This one felt pretty shiny 😁✨

An aging, weather-streaked building clings to the edge of a limestone chasm, its stained concrete walls blending into the rugged rock face behind it. The windows, darkened with grime, hint at long-abandoned interiors, while a single leak-stained green shutter whispers a forgotten story of broken glass. Below, a doorway yawns into darkness, framed by rusted fencing and crumbling wood. Nature slowly reclaims its place, with creeping vines and tufts of greenery sprouting from the rock’s crevices. Time has settled heavily here, leaving behind both mystery and quiet decay. A towering metal staircase, an intricate lattice of steel beams and railings, ascends through the dark cavernous depths of Gouffre de Padirac. A lone wooden chair stands in the center of a dimly lit, abandoned corridor, bathed in an eerie hush. Shadows creep along the damp, crumbling walls, where time and neglect have left their mark. From the ceiling, pale, wiry roots have worked their way down, nature reclaiming what was once forgotten. A cold glow far in the background reveals the corridor’s unsettling depth, drawing the eye toward an unknown darkness. Against the wall, an old church pew sits in quiet resignation, its purpose long lost. The silence is thick, heavy with the weight of what has been—or what is yet to come. Something terrible has happened here. Or worse, it is about to.

Yesterday protesters marched to the US Embassy in Dublin in opposition to Trump's plan to forcibly displace all Palestinians from Gaza, seizing their lands and taking self-proclaimed ownership.
