(3/3). Esquisse is a neat package that is very reminiscent of Tableau--it allows you to drag and drop variables to make data visualizations. One cool feature is that it will also generate the R code that creates your visualization, that way you can copy and paste it into your script! Pretty cool!

(2/3) We also learned how to create various data visualizations using our data. One of the benefits of R is that we can create unique visualizations that Excel cannot. This will allow us to answer more questions about that data. See attached screenshots of some examples.

(1/3) I enjoyed the Plot-A-Thon workshop on R that was held today. One of the neat things about RStudio is that we can manage projects and folders within the environment. We can create separate folders for our scripts, data, and output. Staying organized is very important in data analysis!

(3/3) We also learned that Google is our friend! AI can help us write code if we provide a good description of what we need. This can help cut down on time we would have spent combing through stack overflow to see if someone else has a solution to a problem we've encountered. #MarketingNinja25

(2/3) A useful tip we learned was that the documentation for different libraries are a great resource to learn how different packages work, or when trying to resolve errors. The documentation also gives examples you can replicate, like different graphs you can create using matplotlib.

(1/3) I attended the Plot-A-Thon workshop on Python. First, we learned about Jupyter notebook, and how we can use it to run Python code and markdown. We also explored the basics of the Pandas library to load, clean, and manage data.

(2/2) in this example, we can click on any bar in the bar chart representing frequency of music genres and see the breakdown of that genre on the map below it. We can also click on a specific country on the map to see the frequency of music genres for that country.

(1/2) Today I attended Plot-A-Thon's webinar on Tableau. I learned how to create different data visualizations and how to compile them onto a dashboard. One insight I learned is that we can answer questions about subgroups very quickly because of tableau's interactive capability. For example,

(3/3) Lastly, we learned how to load our scraped data as a .csv file. We then were able to create a word cloud that shows the frequency of the most used words from those social media posts. Word clouds are a great data visualization tool that helps us identify key words that are currently trending.

(2/3) We then learned how to authenticate our username so that we can have access to Bluesky data, including who we follow and our followers. This part is important if we want to be able to scrape Bluesky posts.

(1/3) Yesterday I attended "Scraping Bluesky Posts and Exploring the Data with R" hosted by @webdata.bsky.social. As a new R user, this was a great tutorial that helped me learn some of the basics of R. First, we installed R and Rstudio. Then we explored the online publishing service for R, RPubs.

(3/3) Sometimes we have to be creative because Excel is limited in what visualizations we can use, like in this example where we created our own Gantt chart. This webinar was a great way to learn about why data visualizations matter, and why it's important to use the right graphs to tell our story.

(2/3) There are many different graphs we can utilize in Excel; however, we want to do more than use just the default options. When choosing which type of graph to use, it's important to know what type of data you have and the question you are trying to answer. Here are some examples

(1/3) Today I attended CSUCI's Plot-A-Thon webinar about data visualization in excel. In the first image, you might think Romney had more votes than Obama in Nevada, but this is misleading. Based on population density, we see that the blue areas align with cities like Reno and Las Vegas.

A method I learned for our group project this week was using ggplot with R. The ggplot package will help us finish the project by filtering our data to answer specific questions and by illustrating those answers with unique, yet descriptive, visualizations. ggplot2.tidyverse.org #MarketingNinja25

I attended the Mapbox session "Atlas of Popular Transport: Democratizing mobility data." The Civic Data Design Lab at MIT has helped cities across the globe use data to create maps of routes for public transit in order to reduce congestion. Shows how data can make positive change! #MarketingNinja25

I attended the Mapbox session "AI, meet location intelligence." You can now query for a city itinerary, and the location intelligence will pin spots and make routes. This feature is much better than having to Google for ideas and then search the addresses individually. #MarketingNinja25

I attended "The Rise of AI Agents: What Business Analysts Need to Know and Do First" by Alteryx. Their seamless integration saves analysts time by allowing them to spend less time on data cleaning and more time on analysis, ultimately leading to an increase in revenue #MarketingNinja25

I attended the Mapbox session “Under the hood: Offline tilepacks v2.” By reducing the file size of offline tilepacks by 40%, you can download maps more quickly or keep the file size the same while increasing the map area. Having offline maps would be especially useful for hikers #MarketingNinja25

I attended the Mapbox session “Mapbox Feedback Agent: Enable voice-driven feedback in applications.” With Mapbox, you can provide feedback on traffic, accidents, etc. using your voice instead of typing it. These features can optimize routes in real-time without compromising safety. #MarketingNinja25

I attended the Mapbox session “What’s new in Mapbox Navigation: BUILD 2025 Highlights.” Their optimal routes based on distance and traffic led to improvement across various KPIs such as ETA accuracy and job completion rate. Accurate, real-time data is vital for process improvement #MarketingNinja25

This week I learned that knowing whether or not a promotional campaign is good depends on our objective as a business. This helped me learn to pause and think more about what story various KPI's are trying to tell and whether they align with our goals. #MarketingNinja25
