Adelita Grijalva has won the special election in Arizona's 7th Congressional District. She will become the first Latina to represent Arizona in Congress.

When she is sworn in, there will be new records for the number of Latinas serving in Congress (20) and the House (19).

U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill has won the Democratic nomination for New Jersey Governor. Should she win in November, she will be the second woman and first Democratic woman to serve as governor of the Garden State.

Today, Kelly Ayotte was sworn in as governor of New Hampshire, leading to a new record for the number of women governors serving concurrently.

With Kristi Noem nominated for DHS secretary, this number will likely soon return to the prior record of 12.
