Daniela Puliti is an interdisciplinary artist based in Northern NJ. She creates craft based drawings, mixed media paintings, and installations that explore gender, sexuality, vulnerability, body image, and mental health through color, pattern, and humor.
I started this piece immediately after the 2016 election from scraps of yarn in my studio. I didn’t complete it until 2020. The final touch was placing a dandelion in the center, signifying hope.

In her essay On Silence, Rebecca Solnit writes, “sometimes just being able to speak, to be heard, to be believed, are crucial parts of membership in a family, a community, a society. Sometimes our voices break those things apart; sometimes those things are prisons.”
