Part of me wishes the “world” where the ultimate weapon never existed 3000 years ago (the Hoenn of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) is something we’ll explore in the DLC. But at the same time that sounds too cool for Pokemon to do.

Review Preview - While the remaster brightens and cleans up various assets, the original Tales of Xillia was smarter about some background elements staying muted. The reflections in the water are arguably *too* clear and sharp now. The ring sigils they stand on also lose their glow effects.

I know that, professionally, reviews should probably be about half the length I tend to publish them at. Yet I can't help but talk in detail about a game I'm also highly invested in. I want to make sure that people who might be getting into it for the first time have a well-rounded perspective.

Today is Tales of Xillia Remastered release day! A review IS coming but ALSO, advice I can give to new players as early as possible: Do Jude's story first! You get a lot more context and world building through his eyes. Milla's expects you know plot points already, so the pacing can feel jarring.
