I saw the Hammer Hound at 8 years old, on a double bill with Sherlock Holmes and the Spider Woman in BBC2's 'Masters of Terror' season. A big step on my path to becoming a lifelong Holmes afficionado (and occasional writer). Though obviously not suggesting all 8 year olds are the same.

It's actually Hardy at his most understated. A very good performance. Director Lawrence Gordon Clark said that Hardy had said to him before filming that he had a tendency to go over the top and specifically asked him to say if he needed to rein it in.
