When children’s lives are at risk, are you going to help save and protect their lives?
Will you say, I AM?

Candidly I can say this is the most pessimistic I have felt about the outlook for the US in my adult life. Borne out of self-inflicted wounds, the trend seems to be further deterioration. Unfortunately it seems that things will only have to get worse before there is a necessary response for change.

As a proponent of open government and open data and information sharing, it is vital that we know what is happening to maintain accountability.

Important reminder of what is happening in US federal government right now

A quick resistance task for those that are interested (and living in the US):

1. Google Gulf of Mexico.
2. “Gulf of America" will be at the head of Google’s answer.
3. Click on the three little dots to the right of “Gulf of America”.
4. Select "Send Feedback"

USDS was established over a decade ago to support the digital transformation of government. I know people who went through its rank and speak highly of them. This rebranding and loyalty purges is very bad news of things to come

U.S. Digital Service employees are being re-interviewed under DOGE transition
Some employees who were in the U.S. Digital Service already when it became part of the DOGE fear the interviews are an assessment of their loyalty.

As we end the year, some questions I ask myself about my own professional life:

Are you learning? Right now?

Do you have the right leadership?

Are you growing your skills?

Are you getting paid well enough?

Does it work well for your personal life (i.e., family)?

The end of year is a good time to reflect upon the past year and make plans for the new year. I ask myself (and write down answers to) a few questions for inspiration:
1. What are the people, experiences and commitments that created positive feelings, energy and memories for you this year?

Civil service is an honor and a privilege. One of my most honorable achievements has been to serve in the federal civil service as an innovation challenge. Endeavoring to make change by listening, adapting encouraging.

I support those civil service members willing to brave the challenges ahead.
