I mean a lot of it was/is a matter of experimentation and practice more than anything. Every so often I get into a flow state where I literally just throw stuff at the wall to see what sticks and sometimes more sticks than usual. With dust in particular it was a lot of that but also that song went through like round after round after round of constructive criticism and advice. One thing that I like to think was pretty formative was watching the project breakdown stream for frailty once that came out because it showed me just how dense I could cram arrangements. I still don't think my sound design is that like, sophisticated, but I learned from that more than anything that it doesn't need to be if you know how to put everything in, I guess the right places? So yeah, I mean a lot of it came out of just messing around with shit and trying to push my own envelope with every new project i work on, most of which are still locked in the vault but like I've been cooking nonetheless.
