Solidarity to my public health colleagues I've marched beside in the streets. Let us hold our field accountable.

I was told the point I was making was off topic or secondary, and I will accept that critique if it is true. The publication of this issue, however, seems to be a sign that an editorial acknowledging Palestine by name would never have been accepted in the first place.

On far less important terms, I had an editorial sent through the R&R process and then rejected. A set of editorials from that call has been published in this month's issue. I named Palestine. I named Sudan and Congo and other countries we in the West have and continue to exploit.

Public health colleagues, we are better than this. Please show me that we are better than this.

The disappointment extends to myself, as well. I know that there have been movements within the American Public Health Association membership to call out the genocide, and I know that I have not engaged with that movement.

This is the primary public health publication in the States. This can't be the pinnacle of where we are as a field.

To then name the occupation and push a narrative of cooperation in the same sentence is atrocious. Cooperation is needed. Individuals have cooperated to make magnificent things. The US-funded occupation's genocide of Palestine is not cooperation to improve public health.

Again, the language used is Gaza. Not Palestine. We're seeing the "environmental destruction of Gaza." By whom? We know. The International Court of Justice has made that clear.

This is the language they're using.
