W/o saying my school, this happened here back in like 2018/19 but involving a student's conduct in a class and subsequent referral to disciplinary. Anyways, that student went on Fox and then we got the infamous conservative anti college organization to come to campus. Whole thing was a mess
It's not great that a student can turn in a bad essay but vaguely point to the Bible and religious beliefs as an excuse for not following the actual assignment and terrible writing. That's not what college is supposed to be.
The professor did nothing wrong but she was pulled off the course anyways.

I think if I had to do WoW all over again back at age 14, I would have definitely gone onto PvE and embraced my inner care bear.
