American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

The path forward is against the Terms of Service.

Democrats should start walking around with large quantities of sand in their pockets.

Compromise on a bill? POCKET SAND!

Additional, unnecessary pork added? POCKET SAND!

Asked to reach across the aisle? POCKET SAND RIGHT IN THE EYES!

I call this new model bipartisand politics.

I think what holds me back from enjoying platforms like Twitter and BlueSky is just how solipsistic it feels. Like, until you build up followers it feels no different from just talking to yourself.

So, the tech industry folded immediately.

The Democrats folded immediately.

Most industry leaders folded immediately.

We're really doing this completely on our own this time, aren't we?

I think one of the hardest things we will have to come to terms with this century is that we traded the concept of shared reality for short-term political gain, and the ramifications of that may harm humanity in a way we can't recover from for the foreseeable future.

I feel like the last episode of The Penguin is the show's creators going out of their way for an hour to remind you that the main character is not an anti-hero and is, in fact, an irredeemable piece of shit.

It's not subtle storytelling, but it keeps you from having Homelander-type fans.

It's really weird living in a healthy democracy, but constantly reading about and being from the world's most unhealthy democracy.

So, because I never really Twittered, I don't really understand what this is about.

If you have followers, it makes sense.

But for the rest of us, do we just... shout into the void until someone notices?
