I tend to hold the flat of the iron againt the pin because it has more thermal mass than the board pad. If you are using lead-free solder, a flux pen might make things go faster, but good quality solder with flux might be fine. 2/2

learn.adafruit.com/how-to-solde... if you have not already seen it. Use a high-quality temperature controlled iron like a Hakko stand iron and set the temperature high enough. Use an adequate-size tip, like a chisel tip. Press firmly for good head transfer. 1/2

I2C is a lot slower than SPI, so it's not really practical for the TFT displays. They are mostly driven with SPI or even higher bandwidth connections.

If you power the strip at 3.3V, no level-shifting problem.

3.3V data signals often work, but adding a level shifter is best for reliability. But try it. If you power the strip at 3.3V (only do for short strips to avoid overloading the 3.3V regulator on the board).

"be aware there is usually a strict data-flow direction": delete "usually". "signal can degrade over long chains": not really, signal is regenerated by each NeoPixel. But *power* can sag over a long chain. Good to power a long strip at both ends (both power and ground), and maybe in the middle too.

Great summary!

NeoPixels are REALLY bright. Encourage lower brightness values to save power and save eye discomfort.

(I originally saw this post in the thread out of context and thought that, you, the reporter, personally asked to speak to the PM. You might want to mark each post clearly as a quotation.)

The white will show damage or dirt easily. The black will show fingerprints. Sunburst or transparent.
