I think it gets lost a lot that in therapy, "valid" means "understandable"--your emotions arise from somewhere, they were caused. People who argue against it seem to be arguing against the idea that emotions are always effective and accurate, which absolutely no one has said.

I’m a psychologist, and in my career I have known very few people I would genuinely suspect would think it’s a good idea to use an LLM to write progress notes. But almost all of the people I’d suspect are psychiatrists.

I have a deep, genuine respect for Katherine Applegate taking writing for the 8-12 range far more seriously than many YA authors take writing for the 14+ range. Her next series, Everworld, ran a little bit older and never really found an audience, but was Animorphs for mythology teens. It rules.
