Anyone experienced at marketing offline? I want to know how to let people in my area know I'm holding events. I want to know how to disseminate information on paper. What can I do other than leave flyers in cafe community boards?

I'm 30. I created a Facebook account when I was 13. For the most part, I don't remember using other search engines or other email providers or reading blogs. How did all this used to work? What did it look like? What could we take with us from the past?

Endless feeds are an addiction. Having three apps I can open and find the world immediately around me is convenient. How do we break these cycles, or at least hold our own reins? Any addicts have advice?

How do I use RSS feeds to hear from my friends' blogs? (Isn't that what "feed" came from before it became about profit via addiction? I don't even know!) No one wants to lose track of friends and even acquaintances. What can I use as tools to prevent that?

We will put it anywhere anyone wants. Local libraries, cafes, here. I have no network of zine proliferators. I'm not making promises of greatness. But I think we need more of an alternative to envision than a knockoff of a centralized power.

I've also been hearing lately about people exploring the "indie web" or the "personal web". I'm thinking about making some zines. Would anyone want to contribute to a zine collection about a new Internet? The tones I'm going for are hopeful, useful, and offering a practical vision of how to proceed.

Just like you wouldn't approach an unknown body of water and say "yum! slurp slurp!" (pesticides! dysentery!) you should no longer take in experiences on the Internet as likelier to be information than disinformation. The well is officially poisoned. Adjust your instincts manually if you have to.

Learn something about woodcutting. Enjoy your thirst posts. Everyone loves a peaceful video of someone enjoying their life. But the moment politics even REMOTELY enters the chat, get outta there. Assume at all times that you're drinking in disinformation, even if it's shaky phone video footage.
