I Think we probably agree a lot more than we disagree on this topic. I think the technology is cool and very useful in certain ways, but the hype and rapid expansion and forcing of this technology into every aspect of our economy is insane and needs to stop.

I fully agree with you on all of the ethical problems with these tools... But there are a lot of advantages to using these tools when they are under your own control and running on your own systems without the use of one of these tech giants networks.

I am training my own custom AI models and running them on my own machines. I'm using these technologies that already exist in order to improve my life and am working on ways of implementing tools that can benefit the working class.

All of your views on this seem to be based on the fact that you started using free online services before you realized the ethical and ecological issues. I'm coming at this from a different angle. I have actively avoided AI until I could find a way to use it ethically and intelligently.

The technology isn't going to go away.. Ever.. The open source community is doing a lot of good work with it. But the economy is going to take a massive hit from this giant bubble being created because of this asinine AI fueled arms race.

LLMs can be very useful in writing code, especially if you have your own locally installed and controlled model trained on your own coding style. It can be a very useful teaching tool. But I agree that the hype is a huge problem and these companies replacing humans is bad and dumb.

Okay. I'm fully aware of the energy concerns.. But I'm not talking about silly useless entertainment. These tools are the fastest most effective ways to defend ourselves against those that seek to destroy humanities ability to fight back.

This kind of extreme, black and white moralism is tantamount to waving the white flag against the Fascists. Our ideals won't help us beat the people from harming us.

In fact, I would argue that trying to talk people out of using the technology is actually wrong. If you believe that the directon this country is going is wrong, then we need every advantage we can get.

I think opposing it across the board is folly. You can't wish it didn't exist and make it happen. You can only advocate for its ethical use. My belief is that creating small, locally controlled systems that support mutual aid is a necessity

I am using as a learning tool for my career and to understand it better. I believe, much like other other transformative technologies, its the motivation and perspective of the people using it. I am motivated to empower the working class to oppose the rich, therefore I will use it for that.

This "release" can only be the trigger to the next steps in the people's effort to make things right. This won't solve the problem. We won't have a country left if we don't work together to level the playing field.
