Plus the knife has a lot more tools, including a small wood saw.

And any compass small enough to fit on a walking stick is basically a toy. It's not useless, but you want something better and easier to read if you need to do map+compass orienteering. (Also prefer one with declination adjustment.)

This is actually a revision up on the updates for this machine, not down. The 10 year AU was introduced in 2024 and retroactively applied back to 2021 devices. Older devices were also included past the end of their previous AU cycle, at the cost of Android apps.

I glanced over at the dishwasher and noticed a notification light was on, so I turned to my husband and with my brain slightly fried from the day, could only articulate:

"It…wants…something…"

And one honorable mention. It's not the absolute prettiest flower, but my friend and I found this sun-bleached little aster growing out of the middle of the gravelly Ute Trail at nearly 12000' — and in early October, after the first snowfall here. There's something I just love about its tenacity.

And a few older ones from back east. Some mountain laurel in full bloom, and some ghost pipes that I found growing in my parents' lawn under the big pine tree. They're such neat looking plants. They indirectly parasitize the tree by interfacing with mushrooms' mycelium.

A few more wildflowers I've shot over the years.

Delicious raspberry, a red paintbrush, a little yellow cinquefoil growing up over 12,000' of elevation on the alpine tundra, and a purply flax flower.

We also had a nice trip to the Denver Botanic Gardens the other weekend.

Some pansies (my grandma's favorite), some apple blossoms that *really* show off their membership in the rose family, some phlox, and some stunning little ice plant flowers.

Thought I'd share a few of my favorite wildflower photos for spring. All of these were shot up in Rocky Mountain National Park.

We have an aster, locoweed, Wood's rose, and blue columbine.

Three photos from the same spot on Rabbit Mountain on three different days: two Saturdays ago, last Friday, and December 18, 2022.

We had a really nice hike with our queer hiking group last Friday at Rabbit Mountain. It was worlds different from the previous week's hike at the same spot, when it was actively snowing.

Old Faithful from our trip to Yellowstone last month. One of the days, I got up before the sun and went out to watch. Stood in the freezing cold for maybe thirty minutes, but it was so worth it. Stunning time of day to see it, bathed in the first light of the sun which had just cleared the treetops.

Over the back fence this afternoon. Two sets shot about an hour apart.
