For all the talk of how mean Democrats are to Big Tech, I remember GOP senators being much harsher on him during the numerous congressional hearings he participated in.

He's certainly the most generic president ever. Elected on a vague hope & change platform, gets reelected easily, no major legislative accomplishments, economy always great, has the most stereotypical scandal, leaves the office very popular.

Wow, there is no fascist International after all. Who could have known?

Who knows, maybe he won't be the center of attention after the summer of 2026. Then, midterm discourse will begin, after which the (probably nasty) Democratic and Vance/Rubio (?) primaries will commence.

No military force could have defeated communism so profoundly as this ad did.

As if Matt Gaetz isn't the "people in power". He brought down a speaker and almost became AG recently. He isn't some anti-establishment insurgent.

Bremen was part of the post-WW2 American occupation zone despite being disconnected from the main American zone in the South. So that the Americans would also have a major port under their control. That's the only connection that exists really.

The spotlight might only be on Trump for about 1,5 years. Then, midterm discourse will start, and after that, the Democratic and Vance/Rubio primary begins.

I guess he can afford the pure stuff

I think a couple 0s are missing there. F-35 costs about 100 million, trade deficit is roughly 100 billion.

Menswear guy needs to explain what went wrong here.

Not if he's replaced by an equally radical 35 year old who will leave the court in 2079 at age 90.

I honestly can't wait for the inauguration. Right now, Trump gets to ride the high of his election victory without having to prove or deliver anything, so everybody is afraid and sucking up. As soon as he is in office and does crazy shit, there will be a forceful anti-Trump coalition again.
December 18, 2024 at 12:01 AM
This seems like a terrible deal for him, especially considering the fate of previous Trump nominees and associates, but if he's replaced with a regular Democrat, I'm fine with it.

I mostly agree, but it's ironic that the people who are mad about a Vogue cover voted for the guy who is absolutely desperate for these traditional expressions of celebrity status. That's why every Z-list TikToker gets to say a couple words at his rallies.

That network should basically feature daily coverage of the Trump-Epstein, Trump-Diddy & RFK Jr-Epstein relationships. Can't attract low info voters by talking about how Trump might be breaking some 1878 law against corruption.

Many dying industrial towns could have been brought back to 1960 population levels, along with some incredible food and culture. Too bad really.

Are you suddenly feeling the urge to invade a random country in the Middle East?

I've only visited, but never got the Chicago hate. Besides NYC, and maybe Boston and DC, it's the closest thing you get in the US to an actual city. And compared to the alternatives, it's actually quite affordable.

Nobody should ever make fun of Nixon anymore for saying "if the president does it, that means it is not illegal". Supreme Court agrees.

Most proposed solutions are just various forms of "throw money at parents". Has been tried in Japan, SK, Russia and some EU countries. None of it worked. The only measure that has worked was Romania completely outlawing abortion in the 60s. Obviously not something we want to imitate.

The combination of Covid and social media has seriously fried the brains of many, many people. Visible both online and irl. This all feels like the opening part of a really scary movie about civilizational collapse.

The only thing people do remember is that inflation was bad two years ago.
December 16, 2024 at 12:13 PM
Gore I guess? He of course wanted to be president, but definitely not be a celebrity. He wanted to sit in his office all day and not have people think about him that much.
