5. Choose your strings wisely – Flatwound or tapewound strings tame the highs and deliver a warm, vintage-style bass tone with extra depth.

4. Sidechain the kick – Light sidechain compression ducks the bass slightly when the kick hits, creating space and making the groove feel tighter.

3. Fingers instead of pick – Playing with your fingers naturally rolls off some highs, giving you a rounder, less obtrusive sound that sits better in the mix.

2. Use a light touch + compression – Digging in too hard can add unwanted attack. A gentle touch, combined with compression and EQ, keeps things warm and controlled.

1. Play closer to the neck – This brings out more low-end and reduces harshness for a smoother tone.

3. Explore different tones for different guitars. If layering multiple guitars, change pickup selections, use different amps, or tweak playing techniques to create contrast rather than overlap.

2. Spread rhythm guitars across the stereo field by panning them left and/or right. This creates distance from the lead guitar or lead vocal and reduces distraction from this focal point.

1. Two guitars playing simultaneously are likely to compete in the mids - notch out a small range in one to let the other shine. In the writing stage, think about playing rhythm and lead guitars in different octaves to minimise clashes.

So many price ‘changes’ for so many things recently. The change is never a reduction 🙈
