One stage in the PS2 game 'Under the Skin' has a stage where you have to deal with that mechanic.

Ok, I checked my bank, and the total looked correct after all. I used PayPal and that listing was telling me that the total was higher, but I didn't take into account that it listed it as CAD. Thank you for your patience and helping me understand

But when I get the the checkout part, the previous $7 USD jumps to 10 CAD, and that's what I end up paying. I get charged $10 USD from my bank, so that means they're getting 14 CAD, right?

So why does it switch? Even if it shows one price, why switch to another? Me paying through CAD just means I'm paying MORE, no?

Please explain to me like I'm an idiot: why does the price go up during checkout even though I switch it from CAD to USD?
