Great analysis as usual, Anthony! Not really sure why Leafs management and so many hockey analysts continue to turn a blind eye to the glaring coaching issues. What I can’t understand is who is shielding Bérubé. Is it Treliving or Pelley, or both?

So much for accountability. The Leafs are amongst the bottom feeders in puck possession, breakouts, shot attempts etc…but sure let’s just see if Matthews can play a bit better.

They probably should make Lalonde the interim coach. This gives Pelley time to see the extent of the problem beyond Bérubé. He may need to bring in a GM to make very aggressive moves. Treliving is not that guy.

I long for the days when the Leafs would talk about the respect they got in the handshake line after each playoff series loss. Now they’re getting caved in by the worst team in the NHL and talking about how much better the “process” was…

Yeah, they’ll stick with him and given how weak the Atlantic division is, they have a good chance to make the playoffs. But once they play a strong team in a best of 7 series they’ll get caved in.

The Leafs have transitioned from fast, soft regular season merchants, who wilt in the playoffs…to a big, soft and slow team that can’t make the playoffs. Treliving’s fingerprints are all over this.
