Ok, to answer both of my fans. One asked for a closer contact, apparently out side of BluSky. Yes I gave my age to both, but that was too intrusive. The other was very complimentary and detailed. We are going to run into this more, but it looked like something from an AI generated post.

I have finished Paine’s The Rights of Man. I give him an A+ on rights and a D- on economics and utopian fantasies.

I'm doing great. Exercise is progressing.

I have been quoting from Thomas Paine's book "The Rights of Man". Seems appropriate for these days in America.

"The union of church and state has impoverished Spain. The revoking the edict of Nantes drove the silk manufacture from that country into England;and now driving the cotton manufacture from England to America. Let then Mr. Burke continue to preach his antipolitical doctrine of Church and State."

"All religions are in their nature kind and benign, and united with principles of morality. They could not have made proselytes at first by professing anything that was vicious, cruel, persecuting, or immoral. How then is it that they lose their native mildness, and become morose and intolerant?"

I have to say that I don’t agree with its exclusion due to the two reasons of it not being in the Jewish canon, and some “curious” sayings and positions it takes. The same could be said of the other 66 books. Yehoshua Christ tried to get the nascent Church to change this attitude on women.

I am remiss in reporting my adventures in reading here! Latest conquest is the Book of Sirach, part of the deuterocanonical inter testament writings left out of Protestant Bibles. I could certainly do without its bitingly misogynistic comments, the historically prevailing attitude of the Judeans

After being permanently banned from Facebook, I'm back on in their good graces. Go figure.

As a historian I find the three essential studies of recorded events, philosophy and economics to be needed to apply to the present. Right now I am reading Ethan Allen's book "Reason" where he describes the religion of "natural religion". Quite polemic against all other religions

Also continuing to read Ethan Allen's philosophical book "Reason".

Church, haircut and Zoom with relatives. I'm still getting the hang of BlueSky.

The three main subjects of general history from which we can learn about what is happening at any present are: recorded events, philosophy, and economics. Right now I am reading Ethan Allen's philosophical book "Reason" which received a violent reception, most of which were burned.

Well brand new here. For whatever reason, Facebook gave me the capital punishment of a permanent ban. No specific reason of course. Anyway, I am attempting to be a historian, that being my fourth career. I am most interested in analysis: what can be learned from history and applied now.
