GATEWAY At Gateway, we honor Liara not just by remembering her name, but by carrying forward her legacy: of compassion, courage, and community. Though we do not center her story above others, we remember her as part of our extended community, and we honor her life alongside all those we've lost. Each name represents a full and irreplaceable person, and Liara is one of many whose absence reminds us why this day matters. Remembering those we've lost deepens our dedication to supporting the living by creating spaces where trans people can rest, grow, and be celebrated without fear. To all our trans and gender-diverse family: you are loved, you are valued, and you are not alone. Our community is strongest when we show up for one another, and today we recommit to doing just that.

GATEWAY Today, on Trans Day of Remembrance, we hold space for all the transgender and gender-diverse people whose lives were taken by violence, hatred, and neglect. As members of the trans community ourselves, this day is not abstract, but personal. Their loss echoes in our community, our friendships, and our own stories. As we hold space for all the lives we've lost, we remember Liara Tsai among them. Her loss on June 22, 2024, was a tremendous blow. The circumstances surrounding her death were tragic and violent but today, we choose to remember how she lived. Liara's music, her spirit, and her care for others still resonate with us. She connected people, made people feel seen, and created spaces of joy and healing.
