How did anyone in the markets actually believe the two assumptions listed here? It mystifies me that people keep rationalising the actions of someone who clearly has no rationality.

There were two specific assumptions: That Trump would react to the markets, and that he’d adjust his policy accordingly That he was using these tariffs as a form of negotiation - so you start high, and negotiate down As a result of Trump’s comments over the weekend, and those he made on Air Force One last night, both those assumptions are now up for question. And the markets are reacting in a really quite violent way.

Today’s stress-relief job: plant 100+ daffodil bulbs in our woodland!
A cloth shopping bag full of 100+ daffodil bulbs. The bulbs are already sprouting and need planted ASAP! A sprouted daffodil bulb planted in a forest floor, surrounded by a prickly-looking moss, twigs and leaves. The moss and ground look shiny, moist and lush.

I saw a Rednote video about “visual mixing” of paint, also called glazing, and have been using GenAI as a teacher to learn the technique. Such a simple but mind-blowing idea to use thin layers so that the light bounces through each layer and your eye does the mixing!
