On the plus side, my already terrible health coverage is about to get a whole lot worse and more expensive!

Another week of shutdown would have buried Trump's approval. Give banana stickers to the cavers and the minority leader who couldn't hold his fucking team together.

The GOP built the rope they were going to hang themselves with, most recently litigating against funding SNAP *and* trying to claw back money from states that are funding it fully. In come 8 democrats - not to save the American people from starvation, but to save the GOP from themselves.

This disastrous caving is going to be studied and taught in political science programs. Like the timing is fascinating. A couple weeks ago it was kind of unclear who was taking the blame, but now? Huge election win, Trump's approval declining and you pick now to cave? Amazing.

“Democrats may have been more surprised than anybody to discover their shutdown strategy was drawing political blood. Their instinct was to withdraw the knife anyway.”

8 Democratic Senators: "The Republicans promised to hold a vote!"

Republicans: "They believed us. LOL. It's true. They're dumber than shit."

“Democrats could have held the line on the shutdown and spent weeks watching Trump’s approval ratings fall while war breaks out between pro-filibuster GOP senators and the president and his loyalists. This would have produced a better and more democratic ultimate outcome.”

I’m sure there are plenty of MAGA who enjoy Star Wars and I can only assume that it’s because they really believe that if you bootstrap yourself hard enough, you too can become a Sith Lord.

I mean seriously, do they not see it?

Yeah maybe people don’t want to be targeted for the color of their skin by paramilitaries while they’re trying to buy groceries for their kids? Who would’ve thought?

Even if conspiracies about Schumer orchestrating the end of the shutdown with lame ducks is not true, the alternative is a leader who can’t whip votes for things he and the majority of the caucus claim to be against. So he’s either a toadie or ineffectual.
