I cannot fully relate because I cannot say I have actually watched the Star Wars movie that I watched. But, I did want to like this series like most series I like. And I wanted to like it because... it's Star Wars. But I guess, there's still time..

Yes. In a practical sense: when your friend is telling you they are going through something, don't tell them: cheer up, it will be alright.
