It's a typographical issue. They have a single opening quotation mark, not an apostrophe. And I've noticed a lot of this of late.

Has anyone else noticed recently in the Irish Times that the apostrophe in many possessive 's in texts is is wrong way around?

RTÉ (Irish TV) is broadcasting Greece v Republic of Ireland (UEFA Women's Nations League) live while there's nothing on Greek TV. What a pity that Greece decided to hold the game in Iraklio, Crete, where the stadium is pretty much empty.

From an Irish Independent report, we have O’Donnell's comments: "A n-achdaran, mar Éireannach, ó áit go labharthar Gaeilge blath, fear o náisiún go bhfuil teanga aici, agus ata fós ag bruin chun saoirse d'faghail, caithfidh mo labhart ins an feis Sasanach so in teanga féin."

In 1901, O’Donnell addressed the Commons in Irish. But the online version of Hansard, the official record of the House of Commons, doesn't have his comments. The record appears blank (but it is in the printed version).

Dublin: While Greeks held a protest calling for justice for the 57 dead of the 2023 #Tempi railway disaster (most of them students), a few braindead racist bigots shouted abuse at them, like "go home", "this isn't our country anymore because of youse" and "you're not wanted here".

I've seen countless "general" strikes in Greece over the years, but this is the first one that is actually general.

At the #Tempi rally in Corinth marking 2nd anniversary of railway disaster. Never seen anything like it. All shops/businesses are closed. Thousands of all ages at protest.

How utterly shambolic. Grist to the mill for all those who seek to deny the barbarity of the Assadist regime.
