A few years ago I got to attend a screening inside the church (now a theater) where POD was filmed and being inside the same space that we were watching then walk around in on the screen was a supremely cool experience.

In early high school I wrote a short story sequel to The Yearling for a creative writing assignment, which involved the yearling coming back from the dead and slaughtering the family that had put him down as an act of revenge. That got me sent to the principal's office.
