As a Hitchcock nerd who admires the entire filmography I try not to, but I can’t help it sometimes. As long as people don’t write off the less discussed films and only know the most famous ones I’m ok.

The scans themselves are great. Unfortunately they’ve been handled less than admirably with some suffering frozen grain. But even with that they’re a gazillion miles ahead of the horrible old Lowry masters. This is a mixed bag to say the least.

They tweaked all kinds of things and every single effects shot so I wouldn’t be surprised if more production goofs were also removed. This all started with the DVD removing the snake reflection and guiding rod on the boulder from Raiders.

The most underrated of Hammer’s masterpieces and one of the great sequels. It’s the direction they could’ve gone in had they stayed with the more intelligent yet fun films. Sadly it wasn’t to be as Evil of Frankenstein was a reboot several years later.

I’d say the one in Mask of Fu Manchu. It’s just tossed over a wall and seems so real that either they somehow got one or MGM made the best fake hand movie prop that money could buy.
