The Empire Never Ended
ok? nobody's arguing in favor of slavery, confused why you bring it up. are you pro-slavery?
December 11, 2025 at 5:47 AM
exactly. it's the desire to put something new into the world or improve it in some way. Money often corrupts that, hence why "sellout" is so biting to artists. To bend your will to the will of the market degrades your soul
December 11, 2025 at 4:38 AM
how's that for a sane political take!

"wanting stuff" is not the same as "all innovation is driven by profit motive"

December 11, 2025 at 1:56 AM

Where was the profit motive though? you're being contrarian for zero reason it seems
December 10, 2025 at 11:00 PM
where was the profit motive? are you only interested in non-sequitur whataboutism?
December 10, 2025 at 10:56 PM
and the profit motive? the shareholder value? where is it?
December 10, 2025 at 10:52 PM
or insulin! or water sanitation! or the apollo program! many of humanities greatest accomplishments have been in direct contradiction of the "everything is made becuz muney" line of logic
December 10, 2025 at 10:09 PM
How did they make this without private equity and the stock market? must've been impossible!
December 10, 2025 at 7:35 PM
What a sad life you must live, thinking the only reason anyone does anything is because of money. The mother of invention is necessity, not profit. Profit motives act as a strangulator to innovation more often then they accelerate it. Read a book

the goals of capitalism are fundamentally at odds with the goals of democracy, and they cannot truly coexist
December 10, 2025 at 5:27 PM
minor nitpick: tesla isn't a car company, and hasn't been for years. their main product they sell is stock, and their main capital investments are in AI. so it's enron c.1999
