...says the economy is the best it's been in the past 30 years. So I do think there needs to be some way of reconciling how people feel and what the data is showing, but this new metric isn't showing it.

Dirty Harry is interesting in that it almost does this. First act is Harry chasing after a crazed sniper and breaking every rule in the book to get him. Then there's a bit in the middle where the district attorney says well done genius now we have to let him go because none of your evidence...
